5-butylnonan-5-aminium bromide - Introduction
Methyltributylammonium bromide(Methyltributylammonium bromide) is a quaternary ammonium compound. The following is a description of the properties, uses, preparation and safety information of the compound:
Nature:
Methyltributylammonium bromide is a colorless crystal or crystalline powder, soluble in water and alcohol solvents. It is an ionic compound with quaternary ammonium salt groups, namely methyl (CH3) and tributyl (C4H9) groups, bound to ammonium ions with bromide ions (Br-) as coordinating ions.
Use:
Methyltributylammonium bromide are often used as phase transfer catalysts in organic synthesis reactions. It can promote the reaction between the two phases (e. g. aqueous and organic phases), helping to improve the reaction speed and yield. In addition, it is also useful as a surfactant, an antistatic agent, and an ionic compound for pharmaceuticals.
Preparation Method:
The preparation method of Methyltributylammonium bromide can be obtained by the reaction of methylated tributylamine and hydrogen bromide. The methylated tributylamine is first reacted with hydrogen bromide in a suitable solvent to form the Methyltributylammonium bromide and give the hydrogen bromide acid. After the reaction, the product may be extracted and purified by an appropriate method.
Safety Information:
Methyltributylammonium the bromide is irritating and corrosive, contact with skin and eyes should be avoided, such as accidental contact, should immediately rinse with plenty of water. During handling and storage, good ventilation should be adopted to avoid inhalation of vapors or dust. In addition, it should be kept away from fire and oxidizing agents and stored in a dry, cool place. When using or storing, please refer to the specific safety data sheets and operating procedures.
